CAKE (formerly Leapset) develops Point-of-Sale software delivering a simple, intuitive, and cost friendly way to better run your restaurant. After Cake’s acquisition by Sysco the company initiated a re-branding.
The project involved new demo consoles and tables for CAKE’s 80 nationwide sales OpCo’s. At the time, each OpCo used an Ikea BESTÃ… BURS wall shelf (metallic & white) as a demonstration display. Presentation uniformity was also a challenge between locations. The console’s duty is to present potential clients CAKE’s software and services. More importantly, it needed to be a more inviting experience while conveying a warmer aesthetic in relation to restaurants and food. Collaborating with the VP of Marketing and the Head of Brand at CAKE, multiple iterations of the Demo Console/Table were developed until achieving desired aesthetic and functional goals.
A solid birch butcher block top marries the sense of food/service with “cozy” and “comfort”. A subtle curved front edge of the birch top welcomes guests to interactive with each POS devices. The Iphone docking station is sleekly recessed into the wood. The acrylic-white-front-panel displays the company name. The removable vinyl logo is being updated with the new brand name. Accessible through the acrylic-white-back-panel are power and data cables to each device. Concealed cable management is achieved. A single power cable exits the bottom of the Demo Console then down a channel hidden on the back of the table leg. The table design has a minimalistic curve and showcases CAKE’s software and services on a pedestal-like platform.
21 Demo Consoles and 3 Tables have been ordered. Before the completion of the order, a redesign was initiated. fabricated, and launched to all locations.
